~~~ Drive to Fort Smith/Van Buren/Barling, AR ~~~
We got up early and started out with a foggy morning... Alyssah was still asleep, our coffee was in paper cups for the ride and we were set to go. It is only about 2½ hours away and we'll be handing back our little grand daughter to her mom & dad. Even though we will miss her it will be good to have piece & quiet for a while... We have been with little ones for over 2 months and I need some rest.☺ We decided to travel on a US Hwy instead of interstate this morning. The ride will be more scenic and a little curvy but we prefer to do that when we can.
There was hardly any traffic on US Hwy 270 & then US Hwy 71.
A very pleasant drive through the winding roads and
the views of the mountains always excite me...
Being from Florida that is basically flat in the area we are from.
Finally after about 2 hour we merge onto I540 and we are almost to our destination
We go over the bridge and we are almost there... Hello Arkansas River!!!!
We are finally at Spring Hill COE Park and all set up. This is a beautiful park right on the Arkansas River and there is also a lock & dam that the boats and barges go through. We have 50 AMP power, water, great phone reception (both at&t and verizon) and excellent Internet. The birds are here by the hundreds so I right away put out the feeders.
So I am a HAPPY camper...
Here is Tassie in her new home which we will be in for the next 3 weeks.
There are not a lot of campers here so it is very private...
Here are views from our front window
So another beautiful ending to a beautiful day....
And a gorgeous sunset on the Arkansas River
Until Later
