Very impressive corporate responsibility

I received this in an email and wanted to pass it on to all of you...

Christmas shopping this year

I know I needed this reminder, since Sears isn't always my first choice. It's amazing when you think of how long the war has lasted and Sears hasn't withdrawn from their commitment. Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year? How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up for active duty. Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution. I suggest we all shop at Sears at least once, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement & feedback it well deserves.

I decided to check this before I sent it forward. So I sent the following e-mail to the Sears Customer Service Department: I received this e-mail and I would like to know if it is true. If it is,the internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your company. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item, even if it's cheaper at that store.
This is their answer to my e-mail:
Dear Customer: Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback. Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Please pass this on to all your friends. Sears needs to be recognized for this outstanding contribution and we need to show them as Americans, we do appreciate what they are doing for our military!!!

On another note tonight in the western sky you can see Venice, Mars & the moon align to make a HAPPY FACE... I am not sure what time & I am still looking for that information.. will update when I find it....

and we move on to the next holiday

Add Image
I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was wonderful and that you had your fill of all the fabulous foods that you worked so hard to prepare.... It was all sooooooo YUMMY!

Well here we are... all the planning, cooking & organizing behind us.... What a glorious ending it was. Everyone was stuffed, happy and ready for a naps by days end....
Now let's move to the next holiday...

~ Christmas~

Our girls wine & cheese party was rather peaceful because after me watching the boys, Denise & I running all over town for groceries, decorations and a few other errands we were all very tired... We had a great dinner that Denise made... It was white chicken chili which was cooked in the crock pot and so easy.... Served with a little crusty bread. Then that night we had different brochette’s ...they were a 3 cheese spicy mix , an olive tapenade and a Chipotle cheese mix.... and we had gone to the wine store and bought several great wines.... so between food and wine Denise & Kathy fell asleep watching the movie...27 dresses.. Very cute girlie movie if you haven't seen it....

Needless to say we didn't make it to the Turkey Trot... Denise has developed a heel spur, Wyatt was up all night because he is getting molars and they hurt him...(I finally took him out to sleep with me) and we had just a we bit of the fuzzies from the wine...

Thanksgiving started out with Denise making home made cinnamon danishes & pancakes for breakfast..... then we started our Thanksgiving cooking.... Frank, my SIL, was now home from his shift at the firehouse.

He started baking the pies and a carrot cake from scratch... he made a pumpkin & apple pies... My sister-in-law Kathy was in charge of the Turkey, Stuffing and Gravy... She brined a 30 pound turkey for 24 hours in a mixture of salt, spices and Ice water. She stuffed the cavity with Fruits and fresh seasonings then BBQ'ed the Turkey on the grill outside... It only took a little over 3 hours to cook... At first I thought it had burnt but it was only the edges. It was so delicious and juicy I was impressed... I will definitely be giving that a try... Denise prepared the dinner rolls, sweet, potato casserole, mashed potato's, deviled eggs, stuffed celery and the relish tray.... I was in charge of the vegetables... I made a mixed Connoisseur's Casserole (which is a mix of different veggies), Corn Casserole, Green Beans Casserole, Roasted Parmesan - Creamed Onions (that one of our blogger shared), Waldorf Salad and a Carrot Salad because they had shredded to many for the carrot cake... So as you can see we had plenty to eat.... We used all disposable pans so there was very little cleanup at the end of the meal... that left us with a lot of time to enjoy each others company.

We watched the Macy's Day Parade, It's a Wonderful Life and Football... Some napped.... which the twins should have napped longer but they were to excited with everyone being there.

It was a great day for one & all but as you all know exhausting

~~~Off to the Festivities~~~
TWO only TWO days left till Thanksgiving... HA HA HA HA HA
I am heading 30 miles north today to stay with my daughter (Denise) till Thanksgiving... I am watching those beautiful little grandsons of mine tonight... Dominick & Wyatt... while she is at the hospital doing her clinicals for her nursing program... She has passed her nurses course and will graduate on December 18th... YEAH!!! My other daughter Jennifer will graduate from nursing school next April another YEAH!! I am so proud of them both... It has been a big accomplishment for them working full time, raising their children and going to college full time too.... Of course the husbands helped supported them a lot in their goals...
Tomorrow we will finish up shopping getting all the veggies and things that we wanted to be fresh... and then it is our Girls Big Sleepover (wine & cheese party). We will also be cooking up as much as we can for Turkey day since we are doing The Turkey Trot... I am now wondering what was I thinking agreeing to getting up early Thanksgiving morning not to put the Turkey in but to go walk a 5 mile walk... I must of been drinking to agree to that one... I guess I'll just fine me a great place to be behind some hunky runners... and watch the back action... The guys will all arrive Thursday around noon... we should be back by then if I haven't fallen over dead... and then the festivities will begin... I will try to get on to blog but not sure how or when that will happen... if my words are funny you know it was to much VINO!!!
~~Have a great day~~
