Our drive to Soledad Canyon, California

We left around 9:30 in the morning and had only 140 miles to go... Easy day that is for sure.We pulled onto I-10 with our friends following behind us and started the next leg of our journey. We traveled through more beautiful mountains

Saw thousands of Windmills

We went through San Bernardino Valley via US210 & I-15,

past a city proud of their Little League and
two motorcycle cops passed us and pulled right in front of us...
Guess they don't know how hard it is to stop Tassie

We then entered US 138 where we saw more mountains, beautiful rock formations and Joshua Trees. Then all of a sudden we were hit with HIGH winds... and rough roads. It was a little scary with Tassie being blown all over the highway.

Joshua Trees which are succulents related to the Yucca plant

We traveled over very Rough roads

we passed by the California Aqueduct and Metro Link train that takes you to LA

By the time we arrived to our destination both Ralph and Norm were exhausted from fighting winds and rough roads... They were so happy to be there at Soledad Canyon and able to relax. We'll be here for about 4 days!

Joshua Tree National Park in Southest California

Today we spent the entire day visiting Joshua Tree National Park. It is near the Palm Desert and is situated at the eastern end of Southern California's mountain ranges.

The cactus where in bloom and really beautiful... We didn't know exactly what the name of everything was but that didn't matter because we just soaked up all the beauty of the cactus, wildflowers, desert and mountains.

The one on the left is Cholla & on the right is the Hedgehog

This is the Cholla Garden and on the left one of my favorites The Ocotillo

Joshua Trees are succulents, related to the Yucca bush. It is to the Mojave Desert in California as the Saguaro cactus are to the Sonoran Desert in western Arizona. According to the many stories we heard these trees were named by Mormon travelers. The strange contorted branches made them think of Joshua pointing the way to the promised land. They were really a different looking tree!

Another great sight to see are the massive rock formations. It is incredible how many HUGE rocks there were and made us wonder just how did they get there.

Wildflowers in the park were all in bloom too... So pretty to see!

On our way back to the RV park we saw the largest windmill field we had ever seen... We all agreed that none of us had seen so many in one place... There were hundreds maybe thousands of them in all different sizes. A great sight indeed!

After a full day of sightseeing we were all to tired to fix dinner so we decided to go out... We went to La Casita Restaurant just down the road from the RV park and it was DELISH! We didn't even remember to take pictures we were so worn out...

We're California Bound!!! ☺☺☺

Raised up this morning so excited... Our true journey this year is about to start when we roll out of the Saddle Mountain RV Park in Tonopah, Az. I know... you all thought we've already been on a GREAT journey and we have but this is the Mac Daddy of journeys starting for us... Our friends Norm & Chris arrived safely and we are all on our way. This first leg is taking us to Palm Desert, California.

On our way we saw more of the dessert

Law Enforcement in cars with no officers and closed rest areas

We saw Quartzsite (Boondockers & Rvers paradise) & Boondockers in the desert

We finally crossed the state line into CALIFORNIA

Where we went through an Inspection Station and saw wild flowers along the road

We approach Palm Desert & big mountains

Finally we arrived at Palm Desert Thousand Trails... This is probably the nicest Thousand Trails Park I have ever stayed in... We have all the Amenities that a person could want and GREAT phone, Internet & satellite...

PLUS we found two sites next to each other...

I think this is why it is called it Palm Desert here and a Roadrunner right by our site!!!

So we have arrived safely and are ready for FUN!!!

UPDATE: We had tremors from the 7.2 earthquake in Mexicalli, Mexico this afternoon around 3:30 pm. Scared Chris & I to death... Norm was taking a shower and thought we were playing a trick on him... Ralph just took it all in stride... I sure hope we feel no more of them!!!
