Our drive to Soledad Canyon, California

We left around 9:30 in the morning and had only 140 miles to go... Easy day that is for sure.We pulled onto I-10 with our friends following behind us and started the next leg of our journey. We traveled through more beautiful mountains

Saw thousands of Windmills

We went through San Bernardino Valley via US210 & I-15,

past a city proud of their Little League and
two motorcycle cops passed us and pulled right in front of us...
Guess they don't know how hard it is to stop Tassie

We then entered US 138 where we saw more mountains, beautiful rock formations and Joshua Trees. Then all of a sudden we were hit with HIGH winds... and rough roads. It was a little scary with Tassie being blown all over the highway.

Joshua Trees which are succulents related to the Yucca plant

We traveled over very Rough roads

we passed by the California Aqueduct and Metro Link train that takes you to LA

By the time we arrived to our destination both Ralph and Norm were exhausted from fighting winds and rough roads... They were so happy to be there at Soledad Canyon and able to relax. We'll be here for about 4 days!

Oh......do I ever know what it's like to try and keep a motor home [RV] ON the road in high winds!! Yes, it CAN be scary as all get out.

Looks like your destination is so very beautiful.

Enjoy those 4 days.

Morning Dear Donna! Man, y'all are really traveling. How fun this must be. You have seen so much. Blogging makes for a great travel diary, doesn't it? I love seeing where you're going and California is a beautiful state! Can't wait to see what you'll be up to here! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Have traveled those same roads a thousand times (perhaps a slight exaggeration?) and have never bothered with pictures of the highway through the windshield. Maybe familiarity breeds contempt? Yes, those are beautiful sights, the mountains, and all. And the Soledad Canyon Thousand Trails is one of our favorites! Us Catholics attend Mass in the cafeteria of the local high school.

Beautiful mountains but isn't it amazing how different the landscape is from one area of the country to another. We're having beautiful mild temperatures here in the south.
I know how I feel after fighting a wind while driving my van to and from Memphis so I can imagine how it must have been to try and hold an RV in the road. You are such a good narrator. It is like we are riding along.

Wow! I've never seen all those windmills. We have those somewhere here in Oklahoma but I've never seen them.

Y'all have fun and be careful in that wind.

Although we've only been gone from Desert Hot Springs for 4 days now, the pics of all those wind turbines are making me a bit "homesick". From the Sands RV Park, where we stay, we could always see the wind turbines off in the distance.

Enjoy your time in Soledad Canyon and safe travels!

High winds, mountains........ that is when I sedate myself and go to the back and let love of my life pilot alone! Well, he did say I made him nervous....no, actually he said he found me annoying when I would grasp the dash as I tried to "brake".......

Yes, it was a very tiring trip and I wasn't even driving.I must admit I yelled at Norm to slow down, I thought the winds were going to knock us over. And I bet that's mild to what we are going to be driving in a few days.

Love Ya,
Donna

Donna, Thank you so much for becoming a follower of Donna & Sam's blog, hopefully it will get better as time goes on, and we get on the road, the house is for sale, We are starting to think about getting rid of all unessentials, maybe a storage shed.Sorry I waited to thank you but I was on the road and even with the laptop it is amazing how fast a 24 hour period zips by especially when you are concentrating on driving a coach full of other peoples kids, what an awesome responsiblity, It still scares me to think of what might happen due to someone else that you have no control over.We look forward to hearing from you and lisstening to your stories and advice,if you travel through MO on I-70 email us and we can meet for dinner or something we are on the far west side of the St Louis /St Charles Metro area,Dardenne Prairie MO. Have safe travels. Sam & Donna

Enjoyed the beautiful photos today, Donna. Seems like this year, for some reason, the winds have been worse than ever in CA. Hopefully you can relax for the next 4 days and enjoy the area.

Safe travels and enjoy the view.
