Midway COE Park Review in Waco, Texas

Midway Corp of Engineer Park is small but nice... 35 sites in all... We are in site 32 and it has 50 AMP, Sewer, Water and a covered table with BBQ grill. There are only 5 sites that have 50 amp & sewer... Both AT&T and Verizon have good strong signals and my AT&T Internet card works great. Very fast!!! The first day here it poured all day & night so we didn't do anything but veg out in the motorhome... reading, computer and TV kept us out of trouble all day but by the next day I was stir crazy.... So we walked around the park, went riding around the area and checked it out. After that we went to the grocery store for a few things we needed and didn't need.

The lake is up so high that a lot of the other COE parks and campgrounds around it were closed due to flooding. This is a picture of the boat dock at Midway

While riding around we came across a group of deer. They weren't too afraid of us and let us take pictures of them. There were about 16 doe & fawn mix and one BIG boy!

On our way to Waco, Texas

We started out around 9:30 and have about 260 miles to go today to reach our destination Waco, Texas... As we headed out the road we saw lots of these...

Pumping for oil I guess

Then further down on Interstate 35 we saw Texas Motor Speedway... No race today but I can just imagine the excitement when there is one. It is hard to see but the race track is further in the back and huge.

And even further down the road we approached our first BIG city Fort Worth... We chose to go around Dallas which may have been a good idea. Look at this awesome skyline and the scary roads.

At this exit Tassie thought it was where she should get off... She just knew there was a whole city of her brothers & sisters. We finally convinced her that is was just a town...

Finally we arrived at our RV park... Midway COE Park

There are several things we want to see & do while in this area
• Texas Ranger Hall of fame
• Dr. Pepper Museum
• Suspension Bridge and River Walk

Lake Texoma Thousand Trails Park - Gordondale, Texas

We arrived safely at Lake Texoma Thousand Trail Parks and enjoyed our two night, one day stopover... We really didn't have enough time to enjoy the surrounding area since we left 4 weeks later then we wanted to and so we had to altered our plans original plans. There are several things to see & do in this area.

• Hagerman Wildlife Refuge
• Fort Washita
• Chickasaw NRA
• Denison Dam
• Red River Hist. Museum

The park i itself was pretty much typical of other Thousand Trail Parks... A little run down but better then others we have visited. It was a fairly nice park as far as TT goes... They charged 3 dollars a night extra for 50 Amp... There were only about 18, 50 amp sites and they were all pretty level. There were a lot of 30 amp that were level and pretty good but I think only in section "C". Water pressure, electric and sewer was all pretty good too. Staff was friendly and helpful. So for kinda of a free site if you paid the BIG membership price this was a good park,..
They had a Family Clubhouse & a Adult Only Clubhouse

This is Lake Texoma... A fairly good size lake with good fishing and boating activities

Boat ramp and a floating dock that I am still trying to figure out how to get on!

This is the adult clubhouse

The family clubhouse with swimming pool

This is the campsite that we decided to stay on "Q-12"

Here are a few of the campsites in "C" section and for you campers the infamous DUMP station... However most sites had sewer.

We are headed for Waco, Texas and will be there for 5 days.... We will be staying at Midway - COE Park. I am looking forward to it and hoping for warmer weather!!!

Neither Rain, Sleet or Snow!!!

Well Maybe snow.....

I finally was released from the doctor last Thursday and boy was I so excited... No more crutches and just some limitations... He said it'll be at least 4 more weeks of recovery "BUT since I am doing so well go ahead and leave on your trip".... Hip Hip Hooray!!! And don't cha know it snowed on Friday and snowed and snowed and snowed... So we knew that leaving Sunday was not going to be an option. So we are leaving today... Monday February 1st. First we had to de-ice the motorhome before we could even put in the slides and stairs. They were frozen in the out position. What a pain that was and thank goodness it was a BLUE job! It is our 41st anniversary today and I couldn't have asked for a better gift then to be able to move on to our 2010 adventure. We are heading to Gordonville, Texas to a Thousand Trails Park... Lake Texoma. We joined Thousand Trails about 4 years ago and haven't ever really used it much. So this year we will hopefully recoup some of the money we have paid to them. I will give a full review of the park tomorrow and let you know how it is. So far the few parks we have visited over the years have not impressed me.

So off we go down the highway on the beginning of our journey this year...

Still recouping and doing great....

Just an update to let all of you know that I am doing great... Therapy is coming along nicely and they say I am really improving fast. I do my exercises everyday hoping that I will heal fast and we will be on our way soon to our next BIG adventure. I see the doctor next Thursday and hope to be released then. If I am we will be heading out on Sunday the 31st to Dallas. HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!

Yesterday was my birthday and we enjoyed a wonderful meal at Olive Garden. I have been seeing an advertisement for a delicious dinner called Manicotti Formaggio with Chicken... It is manicotti filled with ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan cheese... served with sauteed chicken tossed with spinach and roasted bell peppers in a parmesan cream sauce. It also comes with shrimp if you want... It was incredibly yummy and I highly recommend that you all go try it. My daughter and her family joined us for the birthday celebration which was really nice since I haven't been with her for on my birthday for a lot of years.

The weather here the past week has been so much better (in the high 60's) but it looks like we'll be seeing some more freezing weather before we leave this area... So much of our country is being hit by horrid weather and I sure hope that all of you are safe and not in it!

♥♥♥ I am back home in Tassie ♥♥♥

Hello everyone!!! I am hoping you all had a safe and wonderful beginning to the new year. As you know I started the new year with knee surgery and everything went very well. It was a little bit more of a repair then they thought but I am recovering fast and soon hopefully will be released and on our way to new adventures this year. I spent the first 2 weeks at my daughter's house where they all kept an eagle eye on me to make sure I did absolutely nothing... except for the leg & knee exercises that rehab is giving me to do... Ralph stayed with Tassie to make sure she was doing good in this freezing weather... It is the first time we have been in such freezing temperatures (single digits) and we are having a hard time with condensation and the walls freezing up... I think we'll be staying home in Florida for the winter from now on...

Anyways I wanted to give you all an update to let you know I am doing great and recovering just as fast as I can... I have a doctors appointment on the 28th and if he releases me then we'll be back on the road by the first of February which is our 41st anniversary... YEAH!!!! I can't wait to get rid of these crutches... It is hard for me to sit here for long periods of time but I am hoping to get back to my regular blogging and visiting my friends♥♥♥
