~~~ Lambert's Cafe ~~~
We drove over to Foley, Alabama yesterday to visit Lambert's Cafe "Home of the Throwed Rolls" Now this restaurant has been featured on both the Travel Channel and the Food Network Channel and is one of the most fun places to visit... There is plenty of food choices and they also have servers walking around with BIG buckets of Fried Okra, Macaroni & Tomatoes, Fried Potatoes with onion, Black Eyed Peas and Apple Butter & Molasses for your rolls. When the rolls come out of the oven the servers roll them out on carts and throw them across the room at you.... Yes you heard me right. They throw them all the way across the room at you... and they are BIG, HOT and delish! Now here is the deal... The drinks come in cups so big you hardly ever need a refill, the menu is huge with all kind of good old home cooked meals with plenty of country sides to choose from, if that isn't enough remember they are always walking around with buckets of food that you can have all you can eat and those yummy throwed rolls... If your main course wasn't enough for you they will give you more. They have 3 locations: Foley, Alabama, Ozark, Missouri, and Sikeston, Missouri. If you have never been to this restaurant and you get anywhere near them you need to GO!!!
You will not be sorry
Here is the outside front of Lamberts and Ralph with his BIG drink
Oh Memaw couldn't resist a funny face & the inside of one of the the dinning areas
Here they are throwing the rolls... Look real hard you'll see one
Here is Poppy getting ready to tackle that 16 ounce hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. And that is the guy who gives you the Apple Butter & Molasses... Doesn't it all look yummy???
Take a look at all the food we got... I ordered fried pork chops (YUM), Ralph ordered the 16 oz hamburger steak and Alyssah has a hamburger and look at that roll. Yes it is only one roll. See the fried okra... if you have no room on your plate he puts it on a napkin for you... and look there is fried apples and applesauce for my pork. Oh I am getting hungry all over again
Here are the outside walls of the building... Look how they have all these great paintings on them. The wall has a mural with mom & pop Lambert who started the business and one of their sons who was tragically killed in a accident... Now their other sons run all the restaurants. But keep all the family traditions going...
This side really moved me... It had the Blue Angel and a tribute to the Firemen of our nation. I loved how they incorporated a real flag into the painting
Now go find a Lamberts and have fun!!!
Until Later
Oh I just love this post Donna! My grandparents lived in Foley, and this is such a fun place to visit! Now I'm sitting here drooling and have to go find something to eat. Have a great weekend. Kathy (ps, are you going to show us the Flori-bama next? Just kidding)
Oh wow, this looks like THE most fun place to eat!!!!!!!! I wonder how many people get clocked in the head by a roll each night? And they come around with BUCKETS of food? I'm thinking like slop buckets and they just scoop some crap out and dump it on your plate. FUN! Looks like some of the most unhealthy food you could ever consume, but isn't that what makes it taste so good?
I love reading about all of your stops, so keep the posts coming, Donna! And where the HELL is Chris?
Justine :o )
When we drove up north after spending Halloween weekend enjoying Branson, we had planned to stop and experience Lambert's....but, the lot was full of buses, so we drove on by....sigh!
Looks like you enjoyed your stop.
I wish they had a Lamberts out west, they would put the restaurants in our town to shame. It not only looks like so much fun, but the food looks delicious too. Wow, those drinks are huge. I am laughing at Tiney's comment.
