Your First Dance & Two Great Videos

Do you remember your first dance... I grew up being a "TOM BOY"... In my neighborhood there was only one other little girl (Becky) whom I was friends with for many years... But there were many boys so we played football, baseball, played out in the woods building forts and riding bikes... We also swam in all the swimming holes (I think some were very small creeks maybe even ditches) and under the road in drainage pipes...YUK!!! Well when I was in the 8th grade there was a dance and it was the first time I ever really got dressed up... My mother let me put on very little makeup and I also got to wear my first pair of heels... I was so excited to go and all the boys who were friends made a huge fuss over me being too girly... It was never the same... I was now a GIRLY GIRL even though I still wanted to be the TOM BOY.... I still had them as friends but it was a little different from that point on... I think I went to every dance at school and at the community center from that time on....

This story is a start for the story of my little grand daughter Hannah... This weekend was her first dance and when I received the pictures I couldn't believe my eyes... My little girl has turned into a little young lady... She was so excited about going and it brought back all my memories of my first dance... I don't think things are ever the same after that.... You make a giant leap into growing up... Here she is all dressed up for the event.... Oh my should I be worried??? They do grow up so fast ... I am sure I wasn't that cute...

Of course her sister had to get into the act and send her picture too... So here is Alyssah... As you can see she is definitely the actress of the family

Here are a couple of other things I wanted to share with you... The first is a twelve year old girl who was on Britain's Got Talent... Miss Faryl Smith... It is unbelievable.... This will bring tears to your eyes... Trust me...

The next is a video of Christmas lights.. I have seen several of these and they never fail to amaze me.... It is fascinating to watch...

Until Later

Donna your granddaughters are so darn cute. And yes, they do grow up quickly it seems. They remind me of my granddaughters with their cute little poses.
I remember my first dance...I was a wallflower, and I wanted to dance so badly. The boys were lined up on one side of the gym and the girls on the other...finally the girls all started dancing with each other. lol.

Hey fellow Aquarian! What day is your birthday? Mine is Feb 15th.

Your granddaughters are just too precious. How was the dance? We don't have any grandkids yet, but hopefully someday soon we'll have some.

I remember preparing for my first dance. This is in 8th grade. I didn't know how to dance, so my best friends dad was trying to teach us. The boys were on one side & the girls were on the other side. I was so tall, only one boy asked me to dance all night & I was so nervous. ☺

Hi Donna., Your granddaughters are so cute and look like they would be fun to hang out with for a good time!!!Hannah looked very grown up for her first dance..How old is she?? I was 13 when I went to my first dance and it was held at the community hall where we lived at the time.We walked there and he could not dance very well...he was not my steady boyfriend..

The two videos were great!! My mom wants that song to be sung at her funeral one day..she also wants bells to ring out loud too!!!

I love houses all decorated with many lights at Christmas..thanks for sharing this one with us..

I remember my first dance very well. I bought a dark plum dress at Macy's for $20. It was very chic and grown up!

Hi, Donna. I've been peeking in your blog and Chris's over at Chris's Corner for a little while now, hope you don't mind. DH and I bought a motorhome last month and are planning to do lot of traveling when I retire in June. I'm reading thorough all the old posts to learn about places to go and pitfalls to avoid. Thanks for the help. You post tonight has some beautiful granddaughters of whom I know you are so proud but I have to tell you the videos were such a blessing for me tonight. You know sometimes, things just touch your heart and those touched my heart tonight. Thanks for the blessing and I hope you'll stop by my place some time. I don't post as often as most folks do but I just don't have the time yet. When I retire....♥! Thanks for the keyboard tip, too! God bless.

I would be VERY worried indeed if those were my daughters. In fact, I think that now is the time to lock them into their rooms until they're at least 25.

The young lady on the video has a great voice.

Donna,
I join in with the others to say your granddaughters are very very cute. Your daughter has her hands full!

The 12 year old singer is wonderful. If Simon says so ... she is on her way (shades of Celine Dion, right?)

Also, I wonder if you could share where you found the Christmas lights video. I would like to send it to my niece who decorates her house over the top each year. She would love see it!

thanks for a wonderful post!

Thanks for the Thanksgiving facts. I never stop to think about WHY we do the things we do on Thanksgiving. Also, your little granddaughters are so cute! It seems like YESTERDAY that my Daddy used to drop me and my friends off for those Friday night teen dances!

Oh Donna, your granddaughters are just beautiful and yes you should worry because all the boys will be knocking at their door! hehe Gosh, I do remember my first dance and I was so shy, when a boy would ask me to dance, I'd dance with my eyes looking down at the floor! lol

That video of the 12 year old girl singing Ave Maria had me in tears and full of goose bumps...omigosh, what an amazing voice. I kept playing it over and over again!! As for the video of the Christmas lights, I had never seen that one before but I loved it! You'd swear even the house was moving and dancing! lol xoxo
