We started out about 9:30 in the morning with our friends Norm & Chris going to seek out history and agriculture in the small towns surrounding the area of where we were staying. I am going to tell you about Americus, Georgia. The first thing we saw when arriving in the historic town was that the entire main street had trees all up & down which had pink ribbons tied on them for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So here is a picture of one of many bows for my something PINK.
Americus is the county seat of Sumter County in southwest Georgia. The city was incorporated in 1832, and by the end of that century it had become the eighth largest city in the state.
The following pictures are some of the historic buildings and streets in the city... I am not sure what they all are.. or when they were built but my guess is the late 1800's to early 1900's...
The Grand Windsor Hotel is the main National Historic Landmark in Americus. It is a delightfully Victorian mix of architectural elements, notably the landmark towers and unusual array of window styles. The five-story castle-like building takes up nearly a full block in downtown Americus, Georgia and was originally built in 1892. It was built as a destination for northern hunters and vacationers escaping winter's cold. These following pictures are the outside & inside of the hotel... Can you see the guys or Chris in any of the pictures????
We decided that Chris would post the agriculture and fun pictures and I would do the history...
Tomorrow watch for Plains, Georgia... Home to our 39th President Jimmy Carter

Nice! We expect to get to Georgia someday, but not until at least 2010. Thanks for whetting our appetite!
Morning sweet Donna. Oh, the excitement you have!! Woo Hoo! I'm loving all of the history! Now do you cook in your RV or do you go out for your meals? We used to say we would do this when hubby retires, but he can't seem to retire!! lol
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
This is a great idea for Pink Saturday! Love that the town does this with the ribbons!
Great pictures, Donna. I've never been to Georgia, thanks for sharing. I can barely see them in the last picture.

I love getting to see places through the eyes of my friends. I doubt that I will ever find my way to Georgia so I appreciate the glimpse!
Hugs, Bridget
Boy don't I know...I have spent plenty on stuff that doesn't deliver what it promises too. I've become very skeptical about all beauty products.
You can get Powderflage at Macy's, Sephora stores and probably some other stores that I don't know of. In Savannah GA there is a store called Oglethorpe-Belk and Macy's in Atlanta if you are heading that way.
In Florida, it would be Burdines.
Hi Donna,
So glad that you are participating in my Nobrainer Dinner Ideas! I'm sure you have some good ones. Can't wait!
Wow, this is so pretty, I guess that there are a whole lot of places I have to explore in Georgia!
