~~~Florida State Parks Series #3 - Troy Springs State Park~~~
Troy Springs State Park ranks right up there as one of the most beautiful parks we have been to in Florida. We enjoyed the day there and wish it had been warmer so we could swim in the beautiful spring... I just know that in the spring it is so beautiful with all the greenery and wildlife plentiful.
You can enjoy swimming, hiking. bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a stroll down the ½ mile nature trail. You may be lucky enough to spot a family of deer, some red-shouldered hawks, or a heron or egret. With the high water, the fish and turtles are very active and can be seen from the banks. You can stop in and visit the log-cabin visitor center to get the best view of the spring, learn about the park, or do a monthly craft project in the activity room.
To get a closer look at the photos just double click on them
The depths of this spring contain the remains of the Civil War-era steamboat Madison, scuttled in the spring run in 1863 to keep it from being captured. A recent addition to the state park system, has restrooms, an accessible walkway, picnic tables, and a riverside dock for canoeists and boaters on the Suwannee River. This 70-foot deep, first magnitude spring offers opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Trails for hiking and horseback riding are being developed.
From Branford go 6 miles on US 27 North. Turn right on CR 425 and go 1.3 miles. Park entrance is on the right. From Mayo take US Highway 27 South approximately 13 miles. Turn left on CR 425 and go 1.3 miles. Park entrance is on the right.
Hope you enjoyed your visit at the park with me...
Until Later
