~~~ Foodie Firday ♥ Comfort Food ~~~
Thanks Gollum for hosting Foodie Friday... Go on over to Designs by Gollum and check out the rest of the great bloggers who have participated in this fun event... Lots of great recipes & ideas...
Going out sightseeing is sometimes so tiring that we don't even want to go out to eat... I know sounds strange but it is true... You just want to come home, put your feet up, relax and eat some comfort food. So sometimes I put a crockpot meal on and when we get home it is pretty much done...
Today's meal is:
Navy Beans & Ham...
The ingredients are simple:
1 Ham bone and a few good chunks of ham & Navy Beans which I soak overnight
2-3 Onions
Black Pepper
And crushed red pepper to give it a little kick
Throw it all in the crockpot on low for 10 hour or high for 6-8 hours,
Fry up some potatoes and make a big pan of cornbread and YUMO!!!
As far as my husband is concerned it doesn't get any better then this. Being a West Virgina boy he loves good old southern cooking which I had to learn to cook being that I was raised in the south by New England parents...
  4. We travel with two crockpots when in the RV. One large, one small. Depends on the group size!
    Always make deviled eggs for carry in suppers with the rig next to us, and pack an electric skillet as well. Your meal, my dear, looks delish. Any left?
  8. This is my kind of meal (without the ham) and love the idea of using the slow cooker while out on an adventure. Coming home to such a great mean is a good thing!
